Our customer, who has a knack for repurposing, has brought us many projects in the past. She had the vision to turn a double pedestal desk into a bar. Of course I got on board and went on this journey with her. We had this old desk that she knew was perfect for the project. We removed the drawers and made an area to put glass racks and hang wine glasses. She found the perfect size glass racks on Amazon. We finished out the inside of the drawer area and attached the glass racks. We painted the desk in an off white with a brown glaze and we refinished the top. We sanded off the old finish. There was good quality wood underneath and we restained in a walnut. Two coats of stain, two coats of polyurethane. I really like to use gel stain by Minwax. It is very easy to work with. And because it is gel stain, it is not as messy for me. When she picked up the finished piece, She said she found a small wine refrigerator to fit in the knee hole (where the chair goes). She will send me a finished picture and I will post. This was a great project.
