7 Different Looks for a French Provincial Dresser
We all had this type of furniture growing up. These
great old pieces are solid wood and built to stand the test of time. Look in your parent's garage, basement, or attic. I bet
there is a piece of your old french provincial bedroom furniture being stored away. With some paint and elbow grease you can
give it a beautiful new updated look. Make sure that you clean thoroughly first and then lightly sand. As much as people like
to skip this step, it is very important. You need to give your furniture a tooth so the paint has something to adhere to.
Then a good bonding primer is best to use. Then your base paint. I like to use latex, water based, paint. If you are using
water based paint, then use water based primer. Try to keep everything water based or oil based, don't mix and match.
I then like to polyurethane. Again, use a water based polyurethane. Minwax has many good choices. The polyurethane, although
not absolutely necessary, gives your piece long life and it also makes it easy to clean. It is worth the extra step.
